Progress!!

Progress!!

Nate doing good. He is extremely exhausted but Dr says that is normal from all he has gone through. The dialysis doctor came in and they are going to take out the neck port today. Yeah!! Because his kidney is doing good😊. His kidney will probably grow 20% larger to compensate. He needs to eat more so instead of 3 meals a day they want him to graze all day. We hope by doing that his tummy can handle more…

The Doses of Joy today! Nate’s kidney seems to be working!! If it continues to out put as well as it is they will remove the Dialysis port in his neck in the next couple days😊 He was able to get up and walk 4 times and try 4 stair steps!! Angelic Mother….

Angelic Mother….

We all have amazing Mothers. They help us through dark times in our lives and give us comfort and peace. My wife, and my mother have been my angels during this trial. Day and night helping and finding ways to ease the pain I am experiencing. Its not easy, but I am so grateful to have my angelic mother by my bedside while I wait for my sweet wife to come home from her party weekend in Arizona. I sure…

Our Goal Guy!

Our Goal Guy!

Another blessed night as I have the privilege to sit with Nate and watch my son show strength in the mist of constant discomfort and yet he finds blessed relief while he slips into much needed sleep listening to a lullaby channel on the radio. Who knew there was such a thing but I think it has become my favorite station:). At times he begins to sing to the song or tap his foot and I know a needed distraction…

Excited, but Nervous…

Excited, but Nervous…

Oct 17, 2018 – 5:30am; I am here in Nate’s hospital room – took the night shift. We have been woken up several times due to gas pains he experiences as his system figures out how to function. At 3:30am, when the nurse came to administer the antibiotic that fights any residual c-def infection, Nate was feeling strange, sick to his stomach. He said, “Can I get up and walk?”, so with the web of tubes and machinery following him,…

The Beginning of a Great Day!

The Beginning of a Great Day!

Night was filled with a lot more abdominal pain as food being introduced makes things move. Good night but rough night. He just has to power through as pain meds don’t help the cramping. Listening to tunes helped him power through 🎧. On the good side kidney producing a little more. 😊❤️. He stood up and moved his legs for 1O minutes this morning. Looking forward to breakfast:). Dialysis again today. Anna got her drivers permit!! He texted Brooklyn his…

A WIN! A WIN! A WIN!

A WIN! A WIN! A WIN!

Today has been an eventful day! Nate is settled down and sleeping in a new room. YES a new room he is out of ICU! The doctors this morning were excited about his progress and impressed with his “Listen let’s do this” attitude. As they trickled in and reported that things looked good, it was time to make the move but some major things had to happen. First was to remove the stomach tube inserted through his nose down to…

The Battle within…

The Battle within…

Today we said goodbye to Nate’s siblings Krystal, Josh and Indy, Jacob and Renee. Hard for them to leave but life must go on even in the hardest of times. I am here in the ICU tonight reflecting on the day… Dose of Joy #1- Doctors continue to be amazed by Nate’s progress and said he would be transferred out of ICU by night time but we are still here which I count as a blessing while they figure out…

Prayers Needed

Prayers Needed

Wonderful friends & family! Nate continues to heal, but one thing that has not started is the kidney. I know the power of prayer and fasting. I have seen it! Please add to your prayers a special blessing that Nate’s kidney will kick in. Nothing life threatening right now, but it would help him through the pain as the kidney is not filtering what it needs to. We are pulling for you Nate!! Love, Nichole

My North Star

My North Star

This is Nichole. I get to take the night shift tonight and a chance to sit alone with my brother. When I first found out Nate had cancer, it was almost surreal. I thought, “No, you have to be joking.” Not Nate. He has always been a pillar of strength in the gospel to me. All of my siblings have talked that it could be any one of us, should be any one of us, but not Nate. He was…
