Prayers from A far.

Prayers from A far.

I have been home for 10 days and in those 10 days Nate has been back in the hospital 2 times. The most recent yesterday as they try to get the fluid under control in his lung cavity. Yesterday visit resulted in another drain being put this time in his right side and 2 liters of liquid drained off. He literally is a human pin cushion right now! He was able to go home last night which was a blessing….

What a Week…

What a Week…

Hello Everyone, Sorry it has taken me so long to write a blog post. It’s been almost a full week. I am sorry for those that have been wondering what is up. We had a good week. Monday-Wednesday was good. Wound Vac is working great. Wednesday I started to get more short of breath. I had drained the fluid best I could but not a lot was drawing out. Thursday, Thanksgiving, was a good day. With Alicia’s family in town,…

Good Weekend

Good Weekend

Evening, This weekend has been good. My back where the drain was put in is still quite sore. Requiring me to mitigate the pain with a pill. I tried to drain some liquid from my lungs yesterday, and was able to draw out 400 ML. So, plan is to wait until Monday or Tuesday before I try again. Have my wound vac nurse coming tomorrow. We are only 2 more weeks we suspect with the Wound Vac, which is super…

Only One Phone Call Away…

Only One Phone Call Away…

Another big change… I fly home to Seattle this morning. It has been a hard decision to go and that decision has changed 3 different times, but with Nate home from the hospital and Alicia’s sister and family coming for Thanksgiving it is the right time to get back to my Sweetheart Scott. I arrived here in Utah 2 months ago when the weather was in the 80’s now I am leaving with Christmas music playing and the hub of…

Home Sweet Home Again

Home Sweet Home Again

Nate made it home at 7pm last night. It was decided to keep the wound vac for a week more. He also has oxygen. When they took him off the O2 his saturation dropped to 84 and his heart rate increased so thus this new addition. He was trained on how to take care of his lung drain that is on his left side now to drain off the liquid that builds up in his chest cavity from the cancer….

Another Drain…

Another Drain…

Lung Dr came in and it was decided this morning they would put a drain in Nate’s side to drain fluid that will continue to be produced by the cancer until his immunotherapy kicks in down the road. Dr says the 3 plus liters that were there – 2 liters taken yesterday and another 1.3 liters today was probably produced over the last 2 weeks- 10 days. If they did not put in this drain he would have to come…

Finally Resting

He is finally resting lungs drained, wound vac changed and shot for the evening given. Alicia went home to be with kids and I have night shift. ❤️ What we know… #1-We are becoming ALL TO familiar with the Hospital and staff! When you come in and they recognize you, you know it is too often! We do know though there are amazing people who work here. Thank you for your care, compassion and knowledge. #2- There is fluid around…

Cancer Immunotherapy started 11/12/18 and…

Yesterday I started my day with the changing of my wound vac and then it was off to my first immunotherapy. I have to admit I was scared, the unknown is always hard for me. It went well and I was able to sleep a bit during it. Today though a different story. For the last week or so I have had a fast heart beat even when I am sleeping 120-123. I have struggled with taking big breaths and…

The Gift of Life

The Gift of Life

Over the last 2 months I have been reminded over and over that God gave us each the gift of life and what we do with that gift is our gift to Him. Of course none of us are perfect but we can be perfect in trying. That is why the gift of the Atonement, the gift of a Savior and the gift of repentance are true blessings for every person. The Lord asks of us to keep trying to…
