We will be helping Nate anyway we can including many foot massages ahead😊 A friend wrote this about Nate March 31, 2018. “Rockwell loves running over to our front window to watch his friends drive away after a visit. His new friend today was…

Tomorrows

Nate has had a couple better days with increased food and drink and some much needed sleep. Yesterday a mission buddy came to visit and today a close friend. Both visits lifted him. Nate’s Dad is flying in tonight from Seattle area. His close friend sent this text… “Nate, you have been on my mind today. As I reflect on the last several months I am so proud of you. I am lucky to call you my friend. With everything…

Look UP, Press Forward and Fight On!

Last night it was decided by Nate, Alicia and I that Nate needed extra help. Alicia called the Oncologist and Family Practice and both Nate’s Drs were on call. She was able to describe what he was battling and it was decided in the morning we would bring him into the Oncologist at 9am see what they could do then head to hospital for Direct admit for draining. The 9am plan soon went by. Nate’s fatigue was monumental and it…

Try, Try, Again

Try, Try, Again

With each new day comes new possibilities and opportunities to change. Change is often an uphill climb. It is never easy but with effort and focus it is worth it! Nate doing Physical Therapy. “We can change our behavior. Our very desires can change. How? There is only one way. True change—permanent change—can come only through the healing, cleansing, and enabling power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. He loves you—each of you! He allows you to access His power as…

Tired…

Tired…

How about I start with something real honest tonight. I am tired. Fatigued. Sleepy. All things which then cause me to not progress as fast. Even typing this I am falling asleep. My Bishopric just left they now come to me as I am really not mobile. I so appreciate each one of them as they pick up what I can’t do. My goals are simple right now back to daily prayer, reading scriptures because we all know I have…

Family Filled Days

Family Filled Days

This weekend has been challenging with keeping food and fluids in Nate. He was too weak to attend Stake Conference but he was not alone as family gathered and the house was hopping. Josh, Indy and their children and Nichole, Phil and family came to visit. Hard to see Nate struggle, we can’t take that away as much as we wish. We stay close, we support and we love but this is his test. In the Old Testament the story…

Happy Noise

Happy Noise

After Heart-stopping Thursday we decided to take a day off. Today was no school as it was the end of the semester so we were not on any schedule other than Nate’s meds every 4 hours. The nurse called from the Oncologist office and said his calcium was at 10.9 which is too high. So back to their office to get an IV if meds. Going up and down the stairs three days in a row taxed him to his…

Heartstopping

Grateful to have Nate home but a bit more challenging to keep him comfortable without all the hospital gadgets. Night went Ok with meds every 4 hours. Today his big goal was to get to immunotherapy at 11:30. We started to get ready at 10 but even that proved to cut it close! You can’t just run outside and jump in car anymore. It is get dress wait so he can catch his breath then get coat on make sure…

Glorious Day!

Glorious Day!

The Night was good and Morning started off fine then a series of unexpected events happened (what’s new huh). Nate had a bloody nose just as he sat up to eat breakfast. It took a while but we got that stopped. Then during breakfast he said “I hate to say this but my left arm is swollen.” Sure enough🤪. That triggered a Doppler scan on the arm to look for more blood clots. The dr also ordered another CT scan…

One More Day…

One More Day…

My thinking spot:). Nate will not be going home today. One more day to rest, take shower and drain. Tomorrow’s focus is home, family and getting immunotherapy appointment❗️❤️ My view… As each day goes by here in the hospital I think about the phrase “one more day.” In a talk given recently in April 2018 by Elder Taylor G. Godoy he said “I wonder what it would mean, what effect it would have in my life to know that I…
